Withdrawing community support in the congs
by purrpurr ini've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.
counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.
if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.

Let's talk business ...
by dubstepped ini am thinking that this could be an interesting topic.
most of us never had a chance to go to college, many of us were involved in various service industries like cleaning and such, and we have had some limitations placed on us.
so i thought it might be interested to see what has worked for people, what hasn't, what the progression has been, where people went wrong and where they got it right.

hitting the wall and going to the hospital looks like not being able to move off the couch and then over dosing on pills. I was in and out of the hospital November - January. I'm still working on getting stable.
If you can, put in some stop gaps before you work yourself to the point that you can't function.

I've had several businesses. The most successful one, I recently closed after 12 years. I coordinated disability accommodations like sign language interpreters, real-time captioning, converting books into braille, etc. As small, women owned businesses go, it was highly successful. It was a lot of work for me to do on my own for so many years and I finally hit burn out this past fall and ended up in the hospital.
I am now going back to school and deciding between architecture and engineering at the age of 46.
I have to say that it has been hard for me to go back to school and decide what to major in - part of my struggle is I am interested in so many things, but the other part is getting over the mindset of "waiting for the end to come". In many ways it is a huge mindfuck because when I look at the future now, it is blank.
Anyone else have that experience?

wouldn't a database like this make it easier to take the organization down because you have the identities of everyone in the organization? For example, if their persecution scenerio ever came true in the US, wouldn't this just make taking everyone to jail that much easier??

How to "turn the tables" on still-in witness who pry about our status.
by stuckinarut2 inso many of us have had (perhaps well-meaning) jws ask us questions about our inactivity, or lack of attendance at meetings.
they may pry about why..... how is this for a simple, yet straight to the point response?
to a sincere person, it may play on their mind and make them ask more questions.

What I have said is:
" there are some things I've observed that bother my conscience and there isn't a place for a single woman with no intention of pioneering who isn't pining for a husband."
<cheesy grin>
exit.
and curtsey or bow....

Memorial Attendance: The Single Most Impactful TTATT "Witness" to Family and Friends
by AMNESIANO inanyone who has awakened to ttatt and conscientiously left the organization--especially a once-prominent individual from a prominent multi-generational tribe of jws-- after decades of devout, high-profile "serve-us," who continues to put in an annual appearance at the memorial thoroughly subverts and undermines, by this one act, any hope s/he may entertain that his/her departure will stir family or former friends to question the whole watchtower bamboozle.
by this one concession s/he assigns him-/herself by every single jw to their handy and dimissive purgatory: the "spiritually-weak.".
nothing blasts a louder, clearer, and more deliberate message to the jws who personally knew you and those familiar with your jw bona fides that you are not merely "not making the meetings" or "spiritually-weak" but that there is a conscientious reason you have rejected the entire watchtower society life than choosing to forego what they know you know to be their one-and-only holy and sacred event of the year, the lord's evening meal.

That's exactly why I do attend. I am fourth generation born-in. My mom is a regular pioneer True Believer. In order to keep my relationship with my family and for them to deem me "safe", I sacrifice this one hour a year and attend the Memorial.
